Summary: UI5 Web Components are here to stay, there is TypeScript support for UI5 and SAP Fiori tools will have their own CLI. In our opinion, these are very good news: TypeScript will definitely help avoid bugs and develop more "consistently". The use of web components is growing rapidly, even outside the SAP ecosystem, which is why it is beneficial for all developers if SAP relies on this standard technology.

The headline reads "SAP Pre-Announces Stellar Start to 2021 Fastest Growth in New Cloud Business in Five Years". Regardless of whether 7% growth is indeed stellar, it is clear from the announcement and the numbers that the cloud strategy will be the future of SAP and, by extension, all of its partners.

One of the first things Eric Schmidt did at Google was to move the company off of Quickbooks and onto Oracle ERP. Since then a lot has changed and Google probably sees Oracle more as a threat/competitor (lawsuits, Oracle Cloud, Java) and SAP as an "enemy of my enemy". Additionally, SAP HANA is available for Google Cloud, so SAP is kind of a strategy partner.

There are multiple successors to SAP APO when it reaches its end of life in five years. However, the cloud-based successor solution SAP Integrated Business Planning (IBP) only works with S/4 HANA. What are other solutions?
